The development of STEM in Ivana Gorana Kovačića Delnice Primary School
The Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds of the Republic of Croatia has reached a decision to finance the projects submitted to the Open Call for ''Strengthening STEM skills in primary schools and development of regional science centers for STEM education in primary schools''.
The Call is financed by the ''Local Development and Poverty Reduction'' Programme by the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014-2021. The Focus of this Call is to improve Croatian primary education capacity in STEM teaching and ultimately enhance the STEM skills of teachers and other educational staff and pupils in primary schools, as well as establish of Local or Regional Science Centres for STEM education.
Ivana Gorana Kovačića Delnice Primary School has applied for the Call and has, on 12th October 2022. signed a Project Contract for the grant awarded within the ''STEM Tech'' Project. The total amount of the grant is €543.859,94.
The project proposal of the ''STEM Tech“ is focused on Component A – Developing STEM skills through equipping school classrooms with STEM equipment at Ivana Gorana Kovačića Delnice Primary School.
The main objective of the project is to implement five different programmes which aim at improving students' STEM skills and, at the same time, making them responsible citizens with the basic knowledge of entrepreneurship. The programme will also focus on educating fifteen teachers and other educational staff, equipping the school with STEM equipment and establishing bilateral cooperation with the Norwegian partner, the University of Stavanger, throughout 18 months project duration.
One hundred and fifty students of Ivana Gorana Kovačića Delnice Primary School will participate in the Project.
